Singapore Skyline – Singaporen siluetti

A beautiful Skyline of Singapore is a well known. The waterfront promenade is an excellent place to visit either in the daytime or to return in the evening. Perfect for a stroll along the river where you can see the Merlion and get views of great city Sights. Definitely a must see in Singapore. If you are deciding on going late evenings it will be a great as you can see the whole city and attractions lit up which is a beautiful sight.

The city-state of Singapore has over 4,300 completed high-rises, the majority of which are located in the Downtown Core. In the city, there are 64 skyscrapers that rise higher than 140 metres (459 ft). Three buildings share the title of tallest building in Singapore: United Overseas Bank Plaza One, Republic Plaza and One Raffles Place (former Overseas Union Bank Centre). The three towers, which share the title of 128th-tallest building in the world, are each 280 m (919 ft) tall. There is a height restriction of 280 metres (919 ft) for structures in the central business district (only Raffles Place, Marina Bay Sands, Kallang River, Kallang and Mountbatten) of Singapore because of the proximity of Paya Lebar Airbase.

Pienessä Singaporen kaupunkivaltiossa on yli 4300 pilvenpiirtäjäksi luokiteltua rakennusta. Suurin osa rakennuksista on keskikaupungin alueella. Keskikaupungin korkeista pilvenpiirtäjistä 64 on yli 140 metrisiä. Singaporen korkeimmat rakennukset ovat United Overseas Bank Plaza One, Republic Plaza ja One Raffles Place (entinen Union Bank Centre).

On my way to the City Centre. – Matkalla kesikaupungille.

So what is a beautiful Skyline of Singapore made of?

No, mistäpä kaunis Singaporen siluetti sitten koostuu?

Esplanade

This boldly designed performing arts centre has become a memorable part of Singapore’s skyline. There are few buildings in Singapore as eye-catching as Esplanade, a world-class performing arts centre made up of two rounded frames fitted with over 7,000 triangle glass sunshades. Locals have dubbed them “the Durian or the Pungent”, as the twin structures resemble the spiky tropical fruit that is unique to this part of the world and a national fruit of Singapore. Every Singaporean has an opinion about the bold design of Esplanade. The space features a 1,600-seat Concert Hall where the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and and other local, regional and international music acts regularly perform. There is also the 2,000-seat Theatre next door. Love it or not, the Esplanade has become synonymous with the country, a funky complement to the symmetry of Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer that sit near by.

Tämä erikoinen rakennus, joka muistuttaa Durianin hedelmää, on yksi erikoisemmista rakennuksista Singaporen siluetissa. Kokonaisvaltaisesta viihdytyksestä pääsee nauttimaan massiivisessa Esplanade Theatres on the Bay-viihdekompleksissa. Täällä on aina meneillään teatteriesityksiä, konsertteja ja näyttelyitä.

 ArtScience Museum

The architecture is said to be a form reminiscent of a lotus flower. Referred to as “The Welcoming Hand of Singapore”, the ArtScience Museum is anchored by a round base in the middle, with ten extensions referred to as “fingers”. The design concept for each finger denotes various gallery spaces sporting skylights at the “fingertips” which are included as sustainable illumination for the curved interior walls. As the name suggests, ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands beautifully fuses art and science to tell fascinating stories.

Tämä lotuksen kukkaa muistuttava rakennus on taidemuseo, jonka näyttelyissä esitellään tieteen, taiteen, teknologian ja median ilmiöitä.

Marina Bay Sands Lights

On just about every single night since 17 February 2011, Singapore’s skies have sparkled with lasers, LEDs, projectors, music, choreographed fountains and the cheers of visitors and spectators who line the bay and promenades. The Merlion

The Merlion is the national personification of Singapore. Its name combines “mer” meaning the sea and “lion”. The fish body represents Singapore’s origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means “sea town” in Javanese. The lion head represents Singapore’s original name—Singapura—meaning “lion city” or “kota singa”. The Merlion is female. Half-fish and half-lion, the iconic Merlion resides at the waterfront Merlion Park. You can glimpse the Merlion statue of 8.6 metres at Merlion Park.

This icon is a ‘must-see’ for tourists visiting Singapore, similar to other significant landmarks around the world.

The Merlion statue (completed on 1972) was originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River, to welcome all visitors to Singapore. In 2002, the Merlion was relocated 120 metres away from the original position to where it stands in Merlion Park today, in front of Fullerton Hotel and overlooking Marina Bay. The park also houses a smaller Merlion statue. Known as the ‘Merlion cub’, it stands at 2 metres tall and weighs three tonnes.

Merlion, (Merileijona) on Singaporen maamerkki. 8.6 metrinen Merlion sijaitsee The Fullerton hotellin vieressä Merlionin puistossa. Tämä on ehdoton nähtävyys Singaporessa.

Suggestion: Visit the Merlion Park and then go for a river walk or walk all the way to the Marina Bay Sands.

Vinkki: Mikäli haluat nähdä paljon keskusta-aluetta, aloita kiertely Merlionin puistosta ja jatka The Fullertonin hotellin takaa kävelyllä pitkin joen vartta. Katso aikaisempi kirjoitus joenvarren kävelystä. Kiva reitti on myös kävellä Merlionin puistosta Marina Bay Sands-hotellille.
