Optical Illusions or is it… – Näköharhaa, vai onko…

Get ready to let your imagination march into a miraculous dimension of original 3D artworks. There are two a quite extraordinary museums in Singapore that will trick your Eye.

Trick Eye is short for ‘Trick of the eye’, which refers to an art technique that turns two-dimensional paintings into three-dimensional images through the use of optical illusions. With that, 2D paintings on the museum walls, floors and ceilings appear to pop out of the surface and come to life.

So step inside the paintings to complete a visual narrative with your creative poses, and watch a “tricky” story unfold before your camera. I visited Trick Eye Museum at Sentosa and Alive Museum at Suntec City Mall. These two museums are very much alike. You’ll be creating unforgettable memories, amid fun and laughter. Overcome your fears and enjoy being part of spooky scenes. As I visited these two museum I am also comparing them with each other. By looking at these pictures you can choose your favourite museum. As you can see I had so much fun with kids to play with these paintings. This is definitely more fun with kids.

Singaporessa on kaksi museota, joissa on 3D -tekniikan avulla luotu erilaisia taideteoksia.

Trick Eye Museum

Trick Eye Museum is a short walking distance from Universal Studios and S.E.A. Aquarium. Museum is not big and yet big enough. It will take you about an hour to go through it all. Many of the paintings are very clear, and there are also photos to guide on each painting what position to take to appear good in the photo.

Trick Eye Museo on lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä Universal Studiolta ja S.E.A. Aquariumista. Jokaisen kohteen luona on valokuva, jossa näytetään maalaukseen sopiva esimerkki poseeraus.

Alive Museum

This place is also quite small but I think slightly bigger than Trick Eye Museum. Once the place gets crowded it will be very difficult to take pictures. I also find that attractions are too close to each other it’s quite difficult to fit all in the picture. I like that they have arrows marked for photo taking position. The samples on how to pose is not very clear. And then the main downside I noticed immediately. Some of the picture colours are dull or discoloured (fading away).  That said I think the maintenance of the art is poor and the effects are not so realistic. I was also let down by the lighting. The exhibits are not lighted properly and also unevenly. You will see that in my pictures.

Hieman Trick Eye museota suurempi on Alive museo.

So as the result the whole layout of Alive museum is a shadow of Trick Eye Museum. Trick Eye Museum is our favourite and I recommend you to visit there. Don’t forget to bring camera, you will really need it! What do you think? Which one is your favourite?

NOTICE!

Alive Museum Singapore at Suntec City is temporarily closed. Further details on the re-opening will be provided shortly on their website. This is surprise to me as we just visited there yesterday! Maybe they are now doing all needed renovation. Once they’ve done that I will revisit this museum.

Kumpi on sinun suosikki?

HUOM!
